Access to education through literature – Hardheim

Hardheim. Almost 4,000 euros have already flowed to Hardheim in the current year in the form of donations from the Lions Club Madonnenland. The lion’s share of this sum – 2,400 euros – was presented on Thursday.

At the parish hall, President Bernhard Bischof and Treasurer Günter Eiermann each distributed 1000 euros to the Catholic public library St. Alban and the community library; a further 400 euros went to the “Café International”. As Bernhard Bischof emphasized, these donations also result from the proceeds of the 8,000 “lucky advent calendars” sold annually, which, according to statistics, are particularly popular with people from Hardheim.

“On the other hand, companies in Hardheim are never petty when it comes to donating their profits,” said the president happily, describing the donations as support of sustainable value.

Promote the culture of reading

“Libraries in particular are given regular consideration whenever possible in order to offer children and young people in particular access to education through high-quality literature,” he emphasized and presented the donations to the library managers Gabriele Berberich (KÖB) and Beate König (community library), who thanked them and already hinted at uses.

“The money is a welcome injection of funds for us to buy new books for all age groups,” explained Berberich, describing the donation as “promoting the culture of reading”.

The “Café International”, which has been a volunteer contact meeting point for women since 2018, was supported with 400 euros. As Hildegund Berberich, as its spokeswoman, announced, the corona pandemic had tragic effects on the very popular platform that had been active in the youth center until then: “Meetings were not possible until the move to the parish garden,” she described and informed about the background, which, thanks to the support of the retired teachers Gabriele Fleischer and Barbara Schell-Alt, also includes language lessons and communication training.

Great group

“Considerable progress is made in a great group,” emphasized Berberich and thanked the Lions Club Madonnenland for the donation. This flowed into the organization of an excursion to the Bad Mergentheim Wildlife Park, where a great day was spent, not least thanks to the “Lions”. ad
