Artist Abu released his newest song, “The Worl is Blind,” in the form of a video clip, after it was shown live at the opening of the El Gouna Film Festival.
Through the song, Abu sent a message to humanity about double standards around the world and shed light on the global silence regarding what has been happening in Gaza for years prior to what happened on October 7. He also presents a message of sympathy and support to the Palestinian people, through a song in the English language that was chosen to be the official song of the El Gouna Festival. Film Festival is in its sixth session this year.
The song is Abu’s first singing experience in the English language after an absence of years, during which he sings the words of Dr. Tariq Nadim and the arrangement of Mounir Maher, during which he returned to hold the title of the official anthem of the El Gouna Film Festival after six years since his successful song “3 Daqat” at the opening of its first edition.
The lyrics of the song say, “The world is blind and cannot see the truth. The world is blind. Where is humanity? They took away the simple dream that we share.” It came as a lyrical embodiment of the message of the sixth edition of the Al-Houna Film Festival, which comes amidst tragic circumstances experienced by the brotherly Palestinian people and amidst a state of sadness experienced by everyone over what happened. Happening, the festival’s message of “Cinema for Humanity” calls on people around the world to reflect and take action against prejudice, oppression and injustice, and to reject double standards, hatred and racism in the face of human suffering.
