Abramovich Suspected of Poisoning After Russia-Ukraine Negotiations

Owner Chelsea, Roman Abramovichis suspected of having been poisoned after serving as a negotiator for peace talks between Russia and Ukraine in early March in Kyiv.

Abramovich became a negotiator with a member of the Ukrainian parliament, Rustem Umerov.

Abramovich and Umerov experienced the same symptoms, namely red eyes and peeling of the skin on their hands and face Wall Street Journal.

Analysts from Bellingcat confirmed Abramovich and three members of the delegation attended peace talks between Ukraine and Russia on March 3.

Abramovich and people in an apartment in Kyiv suffered inflammation of the eye until the next day.

A source named hardliners in Moscow who wanted to undermine peace talks to end the war responsible for the incident.

Abramovich became one of the figures discussed in the midst of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The British government imposed sanctions on Abramovich in the second week of March.

The billionaire was convicted of having ties to the Russian government and considered an ally of Vladimir Putin.


Because of the sanctions against Abramovich, Chelsea were also affected, such as a ban on player transfers or contract extensions and could not benefit financially from various souvenir or ticket sales.

Several sponsors also left the defending Champions League champions club because of the presence of Abramovich’s figure who is suspected to have close links with Putin in the midst of the Russia vs Ukraine war.
