The flashes don’t stop anymore. The site radar, located on the highway ramp A3, to the height of Romainville (Seine-Saint-Denis), keeps fining drivers. And motorists had quite a few surprises in the letterbox: dozens of tickets.

A petition and Facebook pages

No way for them to pay all these fines while the signs announcing the reduction of speed and signaling the radar were masked by vegetation. As a result, motorists did not know that the speed was lowered by 70 km / h to 50 km / h.

The hundreds of motorists concerned have decided to an online petition in order to be reimbursed or not to pay these tickets. “DIRIF must recognize its responsibility in the absence of maintenance of the zone, the failure of signaling and the ANTAI and the CACIR must proceed to the cancellation of the unfounded fines. Today, hundreds of people find themselves victims of this radar ”.

She wants to go to court

They also opened two Facebook pages in order to be heard. One of the motorists, herself a lawyer, plans to go to court if the state services are deaf to their demands.

Recently, they obtained the support of the deputy Alexis Corbière, deputy for Seine-Saint-Denis, who addressed the Minister of Ecological Transitions, Barbara Pompili. He asks for “the cancellation of the minutes”.

The vegetation hides the speed

The site radar in question was installed in February. At that time, the signs were still visible, then the confinement passed, the motorists omitted the gear change and the vegetation obscured the information.

The flash machine is still installed in a recess at the foot of a bridge spanning the A3 motorway, coming from Montreuil and Paris. Since July 25, 2020, the services have intervened to cut the vegetation and the panels are visible again.

A “partially masked” radar

On the other hand, motorists continue to fight to have the thousands of tickets canceled. Some motorists have received up to ten and even think they no longer have a permit. A very delicate situation which promises to be a fierce battle.

On July 29, 2020, the regional director of roads for Île-de-France, Alain Monteil published an administrative certificate explaining that the radar was “partially hidden from 05/11/2020 to 07/23/2020”. Dates which, according to the motorists concerned, do not correspond to the non-visibility of the signs. This certificate can be attached to contests of contraventions.
