A1 motorway closed between Piacenza Sud and Fiorenzuola, in both directions, due to an accident involving a car and two trucks in the territory of Cadeo (Piacenza). One of the heavy vehicles, a tanker carrying LPG, caught fire at km 66, towards Milan. There were queues of about 5 kilometers in both directions of travel.
Two people lost their lives in the accident. The victims are the drivers of a truck and the tanker, involved in a violent rear-end collision with a car. On board the car there were two German women who managed to get off in time after the crash, and to escape, saving themselves before the vehicles caught fire. The two truckers died before the firefighters and 118 arrived on the spot.
Autostrade advises users heading towards Bologna to exit at Piacenza sud and return to Fiorenzuola after having traveled the SS 9 Emilia, and the reverse route for those heading to Milan.
