On the A1 motorway near Niederbipp in the direction of Bern, a car caught fire on Friday morning for reasons that still have to be clarified and consequently burned out completely. Nobody got hurt. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the police. As a result of this event, there were significant traffic obstructions on the A1 in the direction of Bern.

On Friday, July 23, 2021, shortly before 10 a.m., a car burned out completely on the hard shoulder of the A1 motorway near Niederbipp in the direction of Bern for reasons that have yet to be clarified. The vehicle occupants were able to leave the car in good time and were not injured. Members of the Oensingen fire brigade were on duty to fight the fire.
Due to this event, the motorway in the area of the fire site had to be closed at short notice several times, which resulted in considerable traffic obstructions. The cause of the fire is being investigated by specialists from the Solothurn cantonal police. In addition to the police and the fire brigade, employees from NSNW (National Roads Northwestern Switzerland), the Office for the Environment of the Canton of Bern and a towing company were also on duty.
