A Young Couple Signs a Long-Distance Relationship Contract with Legal Consequences

A young couple from the United States signed a curious contract after they found out that the groom had to move to another city. It is a long-distance relationship document, which could lead to a lawsuit in the event of violating any of the clauses.

Long-distance relationships can be a headache (and heart) for couples, especially younger ones. Doubts, fear of breaking up or even infidelity are some of the insecurities that come with having this type of relationship.

Faced with this situation, a young woman from the United States found an unorthodox solution: a long distance relationship contract (LDA).

It is about the tiktoker, Devon Motley, who published a video on the social network where he expressed the pain that it causes him to know that he will have to be away from his partner, but also, the measure he adopted for that.

The portal Uniladpoints out that the distance at which the lovers will be is not clear, however, It does state that its publication reached 1.8 million visits.

It all started because the couple was a fan of the lawyer series “Suits”, known for having the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, among its protagonists. In fact, in the young woman’s video you can hear the song Greenback Boggie, by Ima Robot, the intro of the series, according to Unilad.

Long distance relationship contract: “Every call must be answered”

In the video you can read “POV: when you and your boyfriend they write a contract before they enter the distance so if something goes wrong they can sue each other”.

They even point out that this document will allow them not to miss each othersince among the clauses is that must call each other at least once a day and keep in touch constantly.

Violation of this contract could lead to one party being able to sue the other. Among these violations is deception, which they define as “sleeping with someone of the opposite sex, having any sexual contact with someone of the opposite sex” or have communication with a person of the opposite gender and that this is with intentions of a sexual nature.

The contract also includes in the clauses negligence or slander lawsuits, with stipulations about how much they can complain about the relationship. Another problem is that neither of them can end the relationship before September 1 of the following year.

To the above is added that “every call must be answered” and that they always have to report each other’s location.

The comments were suspended from the publication, after social network users described the couple’s measure as “psychotic” and “insane”. On the other hand, some pointed out “Girl, I need it”.

There was such a stir about the contract that Davon now sells it online in an editable version for $5.99 and a digital PDF form for $0.99. In addition, it added other products, such as caps at $ 24.99 that say “Don’t talk to me, I signed an LDA”.

Interestingly, Davon Motley’s social networks cannot be accessed today, since they are private.
