A world example in vaccination: at least in this we are doing well | Today for Today | Present

Some relevant data: 90% of Spanish men and women over 40 are already vaccinated with the full schedule. 90%. So far, more than 60 million doses have been injected in Spain, in eight months, in a very short time, with global supply difficulties in the early stages, with the urgency of designing and activating an unprecedented vaccination model.

We all know that the response to the pandemic has been patchy, hesitant at first, that we have given up on the virus as many times as the virus has beaten us again.

We all know that in this country we discovered that many nursing homes were care black holes, understaffed, dramatically under-resourced, negligent lack of public oversight.

We all know what hospitals and health centers have suffered. None of this should be ignored, but at least now we can put aside for a moment that pessimism so Spanish because this country is today a world example in the vaccination process.

And it is good to say it and acknowledge it because, in one way or another, we all have a part of success. Because we are a society that has massively believed in the vaccine. Because the Government has managed to guarantee a constant and sufficient supply so far. Because the autonomous communities have deployed effective vaccination plans. Because the medical staff has greased this entire structure so that it works with admirable precision.

This is a collective success. Some will be tempted to ayusear all they can and ride on criticism even without reason. Others will be tempted to put the writings of success in their name.

Despite the murkiness of the political debate, the toxicity of the discussion on the networks, in this, at least in this, we can say that we are doing well.
