The information was revealed by journalist Julie Mathieu, in agreement with her editor Muriel Tallandier, after she collected several testimonies from women who claimed to have been sexually assaulted by the chief in question. The suspect, hailed by critics and very popular in Paris, therefore has several accusations against him.
Without ever mentioning the name of the Parisian chef, Julie Mathieu, editor-in-chief of the magazines “Fou de cuisine” and “Fou de pâtisserie”, decided to reveal this case in broad daylight, because it has enough testimonies from victims. “We were shocked to hear that a young chef, well known in the Parisian foodosphere, would be guilty of harassment and sexual assault on several women working for him or working in the gastronomy world. The facts unfortunately seem to be confirmed today, and even to reveal themselves a little more every day. », Declared the French journalist.
Following these revelations, many figures of French gastronomy took the floor and provided support to the victims. “It is time for things to change, let’s free the floor,” commented Sébastien Perbost, pastry chef at the 3-star restaurant “Les Prés d’Eugénie”. Other female bosses have shown their support for Bonny Peter, the first victim of the Parisian chef who dared to testify publicly. “You have all my support in this difficult moment, you are so brave”, wrote Alexia Duchêne, former candidate of season 10 of Top Chef. Amandine Chaignot, former juror of the Masterchef show, also gave her support to Bonny Peter: “All my sympathy and my support”.
Others have shared a publication posted by the Instagram page “I say no chef”, which fights against violence in the kitchen.
Who is he ? Former Top Chef star suspected
Under the publication of journalist Julie Mathieu, we can see in the comments that several Internet users have started to make theories concerning the identity of the aggressor. “Go read Céline Pham’s testimony, it may be a coincidence but it is the same attacker, you will quickly find his name”, commented a user, referring to the revelations published by Vanity Fair in June 2019. Chef Céline Pham explained that she had been the victim of a sexual assault in 2010, when she worked in the Parisian restaurant of chef William Ledeuil. It was then a question of the “second in the Italian kitchen” who had “heavily wandering” hands. Céline Pham confided that after having taken it upon herself for several months, she had asked her colleague to stop. “The latter does not care and ends up trapping and assaulting her in the cold room”, we could read in the columns of Vanity Fair.
Following this incident, William Ledeuil had offered Céline Pham to work in another of his restaurants and had not established a sanction for the assailant, who later participated in Top Chef. He is currently enjoying great success in Paris and owns several restaurants. But according to Julie Mathieu, Céline Pham’s assailant is not the one in question here. “Unfortunately, it is not the same. But he too was boycotted and we will not forget him, ”commented the journalist.
