SAGUENAY – A domestic turkey with aggressive behavior caused panic on Wednesday morning in a playground in the Shipshaw sector in Saguenay.
The police had to intervene on the spot, then passed the baton to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Saguenay, which was able to recover it.
“We received a call telling us that a turkey was playing in children’s modules and that she was running after them a bit. Of course, it’s impressive, given its size, so we moved quickly enough to be able to put it to safety, ”Claudia Côté, SPCA Saguenay general manager, told TVA Nouvelles.
After posting a photo of the animal on social media on Wednesday, the organization received a call from the alleged owner of the beast late in the day. On Thursday morning, one of her friends came to pick up the turkey to bring it home.
After the SPCA fees were paid, the man in question explained that the turkey escaped from his pen located in the backyard of a residence in the Shipshaw sector.
If ever the owner had not been found, the SPCA would not have had a problem finding a new one.
“Many people were interested in adopting the animal if we could not find its owner as soon as possible, because we could not keep it with us too long,” said Claudia Côté.
