The Mint is suffering the effects of import obstacles and is not receiving inputs to make car license plates. For this reason, the Directorate of the National Registry of Automotive Property (DRNPA) extended the use of the paper patent.
“The Mint SE, in its capacity as provider of this registry element, has stated that it has immediate difficulties in regularizing the provision of orders made by the different registry offices. The temporary paper plates delivered to users with a period of thirty (30) days are extendable. as long as the Registry does not deliver the final ones, and they will maintain the same validity for circulation on public roads as the metal plates,” they noted from the aforementioned entity.
In this context, Gastón Ferretti, traffic specialist lawyerreferred to this topic. “You can circulate with the paper patent. The novelty of this circular is that the extension does not have an end, but is until the automotive registry delivers the final license plates. This is due to the lack of inputs that the Mint is having for their manufacture,” he stressed, in a note he gave to LN+.
Not only this, but the lawyer maintained that the difficulty that this patent brings is deterioration. “It must be placed inside the vehicle, on the rear windshield. The security cameras in the City of Buenos Aires cannot correctly capture these papers that are stuck to the rear windshield,” he added.
Finally, Ferretti said that the paper patent is much easier to adulterate and by not having a deadline to resolve this problem, “We are incorporating a greater number of vehicles into circulation with this type of patents.”
