Anxiety, depressive symptoms … According to a study on the morale of the French since the first spring confinement, a third of the population is in psychological suffering due to the health crisis.

Out of 2,000 people surveyed, 31% suffer from an anxious or depressive state, according to a survey carried out by Public Health France since March 2020. In addition, 9% have had suicidal thoughts during the past year. An assessment noted by Charlotte Kayes, clinical psychologist, who sees 30 people per week. Half of them consult for anxiety problems linked to the Covid-19 epidemic. “There is going to be an after which is going to be quite difficult, in my opinion, with a lot of people who are going to stay in this anxiety.“, explains Charlotte Kayes.

Mathilde, 11, entered college this year. An important stage in the life of a child, but that the circumstances have disturbed. Mathilde is finding it more and more difficult to live with confinement and school at home. “At one point, I even lost track of time, even then, I would not even be able to say whether it is a Tuesday or a Thursday, the days are so similar (…). It depresses me to be confined because we know what awaits us, and it turns out, it will last a long time“, she laments.
