A technical conference to replace the Futuroliva 2020 face-to-face fair | Radio Jaén

Futuroliva 2020 will be a reality despite not being occupying these days the interior and exterior of the premises of the Municipal Sports Center of San Andrés in Baeza. The organization of this biannual event, which canceled the face-to-face fair due to the global coronavirus pandemic, has scheduled a series of online technical conferences that begin today and will take place every Tuesday and Thursday of this month until June 25.

One of the organizers, Sebastián Moreno, indicated that they will talk about “great issues of relevance of the olive grove” and recalled that to participate in these talks, a total of seven, it is enough to register only once on the fair’s website. The first theme will be the recently approved Protected Geographical Indication ‘Oil of Jaén’, a unique opportunity to listen to one of the promoters of this brand, Manuel Parras.

During the coming weeks, they will also talk about the future Community Agrarian Policy, which brings an announced cut in funds, as well as the price crisis affecting the sector, olive cultivation as a pending issue, the Andalusian agreement for water and planning, a diagnosis on current olive growing and viruses of agronomic interest.

Parallel activities

The Baeza Olivar fair is also made up of an intense parallel program that, depending on the evolution of the Covid-19, will take place already in autumn although it should be remembered that The photography contest that reached its seventh edition has already been held, virtually and whose first prize has been for Jerez Francisco Javier Domínguez. In addition, images have arrived from different parts of Spain such as Ciudad Real or Cuenca, among other provinces.

On the other hand, another of the organizers, Santiago Calvo, has referred to the realization of a possible machinery fair that would take place during the first week of October. In this sense, he says that it would be uncovered “because our exhibitors during all these editions have asked us to do so” so, he insists, that “if there is any small possibility, it will be done.”

Already in November it would be the turn of Gastro Futuroliva and the FuturoChef contest, a prestigious competition since previous winners have achieved a Michelin Star such as the chef Juan Aceituno, from the Dama Juana restaurant in the capital of Jaén. The intention is that the contest is played in a monumental space baezano such as the San Francisco Ruins, the Stallion arena or the University patio “to see how our liquid gold is combined with the kitchen.”

All these face-to-face activities are pending the future new normal that will be implanted in our lives and until a vaccine against the virus that has taken so many lives is found, and becomes widespread.
