A Summer Evening of Music: Picnic Concert with the Symphonisches Blasorchester Beilngries

The Symphonisches Blasorchester Beilngries presented its listeners in the Beilngrieser Sulzpark with an all-round successful summer evening. This year’s picnic concert of the orchestra took place there under the open sky on Saturday.

Kristin Schano sings “Thank you for the music” and several hundred listeners hum or sing along to the lively Abba song, clapping and nodding their heads or feet. Because “Thank you for the music” – that applies in particular to this evening, on which the Symphonisches Blasorchester Beilngries invited to a picnic concert in the Sulzpark.

The first visitors arrived around an hour before the concert began, equipped with picnic blankets and cushions, with folding chairs, small tables and of course lots of delicacies: snacks and fruit, sparkling wine and other drinks. The weather is perfect, the last rays of sunshine are warming the grass, the idyllic backdrop of the Sulzpark with lots of greenery and gently rippling water forms the perfect setting for the concert, which will last around two hours.

“Above the Clouds” and “Over the Rainbow”

“Lots of music for the heart, to sway and clap along, to let your mind wander and calm your soul,” promises Stefanie Alt, who will once again guide you through the program in a charming way. Hans Haas picks up the baton and his musicians follow him – with “Über den Wolken” as well as “Over the rainbow”, with “Just give me a reason” or “Can you feel the love tonight”, with “Blasmusik in Moll” and “Viva la vida”.

Kristin Schano appears several times as a vocal soloist at the microphone and shows, among other things, with an Abba-Meadley – from “Mamma Mia” to “Dancing Queen” – or with “Proud Mary” by John Fogerty that she can also assert herself open-air with a powerful voice and a sure tone against the chirping of birds and the clinking of champagne glasses. She is sure of the applause of the enthusiastic audience, as is Pia Biedermann, who plays a solo with alto saxophone and emotionally intones “You raise me up”.

Later, the young musician swaps her instrument for the baton when orchestra leader Hans Haas picks up his trumpet. He plays “Fly me to the moon”, accompanied by his orchestra, a melody that spontaneously brings to mind images of Frank Sinatra, at least in the older generation, with nostalgic eyes.

Happy togetherness with good music

Small children dance on the lawn in front of the orchestra, acquaintances greet each other during the break – the picnic concert is not only a musical experience, but also a happy get-together, which will hopefully also be part of the program of the symphonic wind orchestra in the years to come. The musicians play “Perfect” by Adele at the end of the evening – and there is nothing more to add.
