(NEWS NOW) .- A 10-month-old baby is alive thanks to a gift from a stranger, who did not hesitate to help him even though he was more than 2 miles away.

According to CBS News, the little Jacob Cooper was born with biliary atresia, a blockage of bile flow from the liver to the gallbladder which can be fatal.

The California native needed a liver transplant to survive.

“I was getting sicker and sicker. He was hospitalized for an infection before the transplant. I was critically ill”, Explained his doctor Yuri Genyk, who attended him in the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

The boy’s father, Jacob, offered to donate the organ necessary to your child, but a check-up found a growth near your pelvis, which disqualified him from donating. Eventually it was determined that it was a benign tumor.
