Romelu Lukaku want to go back to Inter Milan after a disappointing season at Chelsea. Even so, the return process will not be easy.
Local media such as La Gazzetta, Corriere, and also Tuttosport reported that Inter representatives met with Sebastien Ledure as Lukaku’s agent on Tuesday (31/5/2022).
Lukaku is said to be ready to sacrifice to make his way back to the San Siro easier. He is willing to cut his salary by 50 percent, but that does not guarantee everything will run smoothly.
The problem is, Inter do not have the money to sign him permanently. After being released last season to Chelsea for 115 million euros, the selling price of the Belgian bomber will not automatically drop far, even though he has ‘only’ scored 15 goals this season.
For that, Inter are only willing to bring home Lukaku on loan. Herein lies the difficulty, namely Inter must convince Chelsea to give the green light to the transfer.
Inter’s meeting with Lukaku’s representatives at this point in time, according to Sky Sport Italia, is merely an attempt to ‘get in touch’, to re-establish connections. Because, Chelsea has not been included in the negotiations. If you are ready to propose concrete steps, then the Blues must participate.
The news of Lukaku’s return to Inter has been heard since the middle of this season. As is known, he did have good times during the 2019-2021 period, scoring 64 goals in 95 matches, and leading La Beneamata to win the Italian League last year.
