Irina and Anastasia have a son together. However, being a lesbian couple, they do not have the same rights as traditional families in Russia. For example, Anastasia is not recognized as a mother because she did not give birth to their son. The constitutional change passed in early July only makes things more difficult for the couple. It prohibits same-sex marriage.
