A San Diego native assaulted a victim for 300 pesos in downtown Tijuana

Tijuana.- A San Diego man used a prop gun to assault a passerby in the Downtown Zone; He simulated him with a fake weapon and took 300 pesos from him, but he was then arrested by Municipal Police officers.

The Municipal Secretariat for Citizens’ Safety said the detained American was identified as 31-year-old César.

He explained that while the municipal police officers were carrying out a surveillance tour on Fifth Street, between Revolución and Constitución avenues in the Zona Centro neighborhood, a man approached them to report that a few moments earlier a subject had approached him to threaten him with a gun and ask for his things and then walks away.

The officers deployed an operation and secured the alleged perpetrator on Constitution Avenue between Fourth and Fifth Avenues.

They seized a pistol-type prop weapon and 300 pesos that would have been the product of the robbery, for which they were made available to the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), which was in charge of following the investigation.

The Municipal Secretariat for Citizens’ Security said it is carrying out a strengthening of the police in the Central Zone with the “Safe December” operation and the arrest was achieved as a result of that strategy.
