A protest targeting the UOC-MP occurs in close proximity to the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra / KYIV / News

Several hundred people came to the protest in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. They held Ukrainian flags in their hands, as well as posters: “Pasha in Russia”, “The Moscow Patriarchate is behind the Russian ship”, “Down with Moscow priests”. At the same time, they chant: “Mercedes in the Armed Forces.”

At the entrance to the Lavra, the UOC-MP organized a prayer service, to which about 150 people were involved. The priests of the Moscow Patriarchate have installed speakers and are trying to shout down their opponents.

Context:

On April 1, the Russian agency “RIA Novosti” circulated a statement by Metropolitan of the UOC-MP Pavel that he had been suspected in the morning and the Security Service of Ukraine was conducting searches.

Later, the SBU confirmed that he was suspected under Art. 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the equality of citizens depending on their race, nationality, religious beliefs, disability and other grounds) and paragraph 2 of Art. 436 (justification, recognition as lawful, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).

The secret service published photos taken during the search, as well as records telephone conversations, where he calls the Russian invasion “a war between the Russian Federation and America to the last Ukrainian”, mentions the bombed by the Russian Federation “American biolaboratories in Kiev and Odessa”, and also, despite statements about the public separation from the Russian Orthodox Church, urges parishioners to mention during worship head of the Russian Orthodox Church Kirill.

On April 1, they tried to choose a measure of restraint for Pavel, but the meeting was postponed to April 3. Later that day, the court again began considering the issue of choosing a measure of restraint.
