A project to support the groups most vulnerable to mental illness

Work began yesterday on the psychological support project for the most vulnerable groups under the supervision of the National Center for Mental Health Promotion, the Family Affairs Committee and the Women’s Committee for Community Development in the Emirate of Riyadh, on initiative of the Governor of the region, Faisal bin Bandar, for social development in the governorates of the region.

Dr. Abdul Hameed Al-Habib presented the action plan of the project and the requirements for its implementation in the governorates at a seminar he led entitled Promoting mental health for the most vulnerable groups, where the heads of the committees for family affairs and family development ambassadors attended from all governorates.

Afaf Al-Youssef and Dr. Dalal Al-Dosari presented the operational experience of the project in the governorates of Wadi Al-Dawasir, Al-Kharj and Shaqra, where the project achieves great interaction due to its importance and its contact with the needs of a large segment of citizens, while Dr. Yasser Bakkar provided training in case management skills.

The center receives psychological counseling through a call center for psychological counseling of all kinds from all regions of the Kingdom and for all segments of society, throughout the week, while all consultations are received at any time through the application (Qariboon) , both by SMS and audio, where a team of specialists advise, experienced and highly trained psychologists in strict confidentiality.

Project objectives:

  • Promote mental health among citizens.
  • Spread psychological awareness in the community.
  • Provide support and assistance.
  • Support projects and initiatives in this field.
