Emergency personnel evacuated a JetBlue flight at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York after a passenger’s computer caught fire late Saturday night, authorities said.
Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), JetBlue and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said the plane was heading for a gate at Terminal 5 when the lithium battery in a passenger’s computer caught fire. reported the outlet New York Daily News.
The fire was quickly extinguished by the crew of JetBlue Flight 662 from Bridgetown, Barbados.
Rescuers and crew evacuated 67 people from the Airbus A320 plane using an emergency slide system while the other 60 passengers got off the plane normally, according to the port authority.
Seven passengers sustained minor injuries, these included smoke inhalation injuries and elbow bruises, the Port Authority added.
