A petition to rename a street in New York in the name of MF Doom

A petition was launched Monday February 22 for a street in New York to be named ” KMD-MF DOOM Way ”in remembrance, and in honor of the late rapper / producer.

Disappeared last October at the age of 49, we have not had confirmation of the death of Daniel Dumile (MF Doom) only two months later, throughan Instagram post, published by his wife Jasmine. A major and visionary artist, the rapper has collaborated throughout his career with the biggest names in hip-hop including Madlib (with whom he is dating Madvillany in 2004, and which has exploded in listening scores since its death).

Long Beach should be proud of and pay tribute to its native son …

The committee KMD-MF DOOM Way is asking Long Beach City Council (in the Long Island neighborhood, not to be confused with the Californian city) to consider renaming the East Hudson Street block between Riverside Boulevard and Long Beach Road to his name, to celebrate the importance that this district played in the work of the rapper. The petition highlights: “His life was an example of construction and growth through individual struggle. Long Beach deeply influenced her adolescence. Long Beach should be proud of and pay tribute to his native son and his heritage on a street sign. Equally important, the city should embrace the unity that Mr. Dumile represents for generations to come ”.

The pétition DOOM has attracted over 500 signatures to date and has an initial target of 1000 signatures… You can find her here.
