A newly married man and his brother died after a home theatre music system gifted by the bride’s ex-boyfriend exploded in Chhattisgarh, India.

A newlywed man and his brother died in the Kabirdham district of Chhattisgarh on Monday after a home theatre music system gifted to the groom exploded upon being plugged in. Investigations have revealed that the music system was rigged with explosives and was gifted by the bride’s ex-lover, identified as Sarju. He had planted the explosives inside the system out of anger towards his ex-girlfriend for getting married. The groom, identified as Hemendra Merawi, switched on the home theatre after connecting its wire to an electric band, and the resulting explosion led to his death and that of his brother. Four others, including a one-and-a-half-year-old boy, were also seriously injured and are undergoing treatment at the hospital. The police have arrested the accused and taken up a case against him.
