A new spy scandal is heating up in Russia. The Estonian consul has been detained in St. Petersburg, AFP reported.
The agency said that this happened when the Estonian consul Mart Late received documents with classified information.

The arrest of an Estonian diplomat is another example of that Russia chooses confrontation, instead of seeking dialogue with the EU, the Estonian Foreign Ministry told Reuters.
For its part, the Federal Security Service clarified that Mart Late was detained for actions incompatible with his status as a diplomat and for “openly hostile actions against Russia”.
Espionage cases have increased in recent years between Moscow and Western countries with rising tensions following the Ukrainian crisis and the annexation of Crimea.
In April, the Consul of Ukraine in St. Petersburg Alexander Sosonyuk was detained from the Federal Security Service because he was trying to obtain classified information.
