I might as well tell you right away: I am both proud and very happy to take over from Rachel Brunet to host the New York edition of Le Petit Journal.
And like in New York, it’s all about networking and storytellinghere is my story.
– Nicolas: This job is for you. You should apply.
That’s what my wife told me when she saw Rachel’s note announcing her departure for new adventures.
I knew Rachel and la Small Diary : last May I bought advertising to promote my business (I support companies, entrepreneurs and individuals in their storytelling).
But you know how it goes. In meetings as well as opportunities, some are so obvious that you hesitate (really? Is it just me suffering from this symptom?) I replied with a little hesitation:
– Are you sure ?
“Of course!” You’ve released wonderful novels, fascinating albums. You have done a fantastic job in publishing. Your customers love their story when you tell it.
– And then I was a reporter for the magazine Classical.
– You see ! This job is for you.
So here I am so convinced by her arguments (maybe I pushed the adjectives a little, but you can see the spirit) that I write to Rachel telling her about my admirable journey (note to myself: avoid starting now all superlative).
We will talk. We talk for a long time and Rachel tells me:
– Nicolas, I think you are the right person for this job.
It’s a sign, right?
Rachel then arranges a meeting with the team of the Small Diary (for which I thank you) and I say what everyone has been repeating for days:
“I think I’m made for this job.
And here I am in front of my keyboard writing this first and last totally self-centered article because, really, afterwards it will no longer be about me, but about you.
You who just arrived (the Newbie Yorkers).
You who have been there for years (New Yorkers)
You leaving early or planning to settle down.
You who are just passing through or who dream of the city.
I hope to be useful, to make you smile, to interest you and to entertain you, because we all love this city, our city, New York!
