The very first Yaris Hybrid model launched in the Czech Republic rolled off the production line on Tuesday after eleven o’clock. The construction of one car model with a hybrid engine will take the carmaker in Cologne about eight hours.
They produce almost nine hundred cars every day, and in the future fifty percent of them should be the new model.
Most of them will have a so-called hybrid drive – a combination of combustion and electric motor. As a result, the carmaker has invested about four and a half billion crowns in expanding its operations in Kolín and has hired sixteen new employees.
“It is a confirmation that we are a technologically advanced country that is able to produce hybrid technology, it is an extension of the production program with a low-emission car and it is definitely a step forward,” thinks the head of the Czech representation of Toyota Martin Peleška.
The Czech automotive industry is adapting to electromobility
Other domestic carmakers are also heading towards electromobility. Both partially and fully electric vehicles are manufactured in the Czech Republic by Škoda Auto and Hyundai. “Demand for the hybrid is very high throughout Europe, we in Central and Western Europe sell about seventy percent of cars with hybrid drive,” adds Peleška.
