A new case of COVID-19 in Bas-Saint-Laurent

Another case of COVID-19 was added to the Bas-Saint-Laurent report on May 26, bringing the total to 48. This new case is in one of the RCMs which has fewer than five. The CISSS du Bas-Saint-Laurent cannot therefore specify the territory.

In the past week, the number of positive cases has increased by 4 in the region. There are two deaths related to this virus and a person with COVID-19 is currently hospitalized. There are also 36 restored cases.

Number of cases by RCM in Bas-Saint-Laurent:

  • La Matapédia: less than 5
  • Matania: less than 5
  • La Mitis: less than 5
  • Rimouski-Neigette: 10
  • Basques: less than 5
  • Rivière-du-Loup: 25
  • Témiscouata: 5
  • Kamouraska: less than 5
  • Bas-Saint-Laurent: 48 (+1)

Nine people are currently in self-isolation and are being monitored by Public Health to avoid spreading the virus in the community. Remember that wearing a mask (face cover) is strongly recommended in public places when physical distancing is not possible according to public health authorities.
