UA 17 year old young man injured two police officers but according to the union it was “more than a trouble”. “It is time for public opinion to know how things are going in the Brussels neighborhoods,” said SLFP Police vice-president Vincent Houssin. The SLFP police union posted video footage on its Twitter account on Sunday evening relating to the uproar that unfolded during an arrest Friday evening in Schaerbeek.
The police and the prosecution said Saturday that the person had opposed an identity check. The latter, a 17-year-old minor, did not comply and appealed to other individuals present to help him, as a result of which the police were injured.

The SLFP Police posted the images of the arrest online. You can see how a man flees from the police, as many passers-by watch. “Colleagues were surrounded by dozens of other people. An officer would also have been hit by a knife on his bulletproof vest during the facts, but I leave that to the police zone to confirm, ”declared Sunday evening Vincent Houssin.
“After the riots in Anderlecht a few months ago, we said that from now on we would share the video footage. It is more than a simple disorder, our police officers were surrounded, explains Mr. Houssin.
“We don’t want words, but actions. We want better support for the police. It is time for politicians to break the silence because everyone knows what is going on, ”adds Mr. Houssin.
On Saturday, the juvenile judge decided to place the suspect in an open institution. This minor is one of the individuals who were arrested following a fight that took place on the beach in Blankenberge a week ago. The Brussels public prosecutor’s office has also confirmed its involvement in these facts.
