A group of about fifty migrants have demonstrated in front of the Las Raices barracks this Monday demanding to know what the Government’s plans are on them.
With several banners that in Spanish said “we are migrants; no criminals“, “nor racism” and “seeking to earn a living has become a crime“, this group of people has demonstrated peacefully in front of the doors of the facilities where 580 people are already welcomed according to the latest data from the Government Delegation in the Canary Islands.
“This is what is happening right now: we don’t want to be in Las Raices anymore. We want to know if they want to send us to Morocco and, if so, do it now. We don’t want to be left in this fucking place because we are suffering “said one of the protesters in English while videotaping the protests.
The protests come after a group of seventy people of Maghreb origin starred an attempt to leave the camp located in the municipality of La Laguna to continue his way to the mainland. Since the Las Raices camp began to take in migrants, the National and Local Police have had to intervene twice due to some mishaps inside.
