Jeep removes historic Super Bowl ad featuring Bruce Spr …

Bruce Springsteen surprised friend and foe on Sunday at the Super Bowl when he appeared in a commercial for the first time ever. However, the spot was removed on Wednesday after it was confirmed that the singer was arrested in November for drunk driving in a New Jersey wildlife area.

A spokeswoman for Sandy Hook Park, on the New Jersey coast, confirmed that Springsteen was arrested on Nov. 14 for drunk driving, reckless driving and drinking in a place where it is prohibited. The 71-year-old musician was “cooperative” during his arrest, it says. Springsteen will likely appear in court by conference call this month.

Last Sunday Springsteen appeared for the first time in an advertising video. After ten years of insistence, car brand Jeep had finally been able to snare the musician. The commercial premiered at the Super Bowl in Florida.

Jeep, meanwhile, has removed the ad from YouTube and has stated that it will pause the ad until more details are available about the arrest. “The advertising message (on unity in the US, ed.) is as relevant as ever, but the message that drunk driving can never be allowed is, ”says Jeep.

Springsteen himself did not comment yet, the advertisement entitled ‘The Middel’ was in any case still on his Twitter page on Wednesday evening.
