-Wonmi Police Station in Bucheon, Gyeonggi province, is investigating a man in his 20s on suspicion of failing to report to police while transporting a middle school girl classified as a long-missing child.

The man is accused of failing to report to police while transporting a 15-year-old middle school student who escaped from his home in Simgok-dong, Bucheon, from 18-25.

Police arrived at a PC room in Simgok-dong, Bucheon, around 6:30 pm yesterday, and found the two people after receiving a report that “the guests have not left”.

Initially, the man claimed that it was a “cousin relationship”, but it turned out that this was reversed.

The victim went missing in Sejong city in early August and a month after the missing person was reported, he was classified as a long-term missing child.

Under current legislation, a missing child cannot be protected without reporting it to the police without justified reasons, but the police believe that the man was taking the victim with him knowing that he had escaped.

The police have handed the victim over to his parents and the man is investigating the exact circumstances of the incident, including whether there have been other crimes.
