Clubs are no longer required to release players for national teams for matches in countries where football players will be at risk of quarantine due to measures against the spread of coronavirus. The international football federation FIFA informed about the extraordinary change of the rules.

While other continental federations have postponed the autumn matches of national teams, European teams, including the Czech national team, are waiting for the opening match of the new year of the League of Nations from 3 to 8 September.
The European Football Union UEFA has therefore asked member federations to arrange for a quarantine exemption for players from state authorities.

FIFA then added that if no exemption is granted, the clubs will not be obliged to release the nominated players. Soccer players also do not have to join national teams if the venue of the match is subject to travel restrictions in connection with the covid-19 infection.
