A major heroin trafficking dismantled in the West

Monday, August 17, 2020, a vast gendarmerie operation led to the discovery of 65 kg of heroin at Poitiers (Vienne) and to the arrest of six people in Indre, Indre-et-Loire, Eure and Dordogne, according to the Actu.fr website.

It stems from an investigation of several months opened by the Rouen prosecutor’s office, entrusted to the research sections of Rouen, Orleans and Poitiers, as well as the Rouen Regional Intervention Group (GIR).

Six arrests

In March 2020, a judicial investigation was opened by the Rouen prosecutor’s office. “The investigations focused on two brothers acting more particularly in the sectors of Rouen, Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray, Tours and Poitiers, indicates the deputy prosecutor of the Republic of the judicial tribunal of Rouen, Soizic Guillaume, to Actu.fr. They made it possible to suspect the existence of trafficking in large quantities of heroin. “

The drugs were found in a parking lot in Poitiers. In addition, the police seized “Nearly € 58,000 in cash, eight vehicles and two scooters, three handguns with their ammunition, a home-made press used to compact narcotics and several luxury items”, specifies Soizic Guillaume.

The six arrested resided in Tours, Joué-les-Tours (Indre-et-Loire), Buzancais (Indre), Brionne (Eure) and Parcoul-Chenaud (Dordogne). Four in custody were brought before the examining magistrate and indicted. Three were remanded in custody.
