A luxury hotel in Havana was hit by a strong explosion. At least four people died

A powerful explosion on Friday damaged the five-star Hotel Saratoga in the center of the Cuban capital Havana. The server reported in response to local media reports Sky News.

The blast claimed at least four lives. Other people were injured, Cuban state television reported.

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said the bomb was not caused by a bomb. The probable cause of the explosion is a gas leak, the AP agency reported.

According to photos, the explosion damaged the hotel’s façade and caused extensive damage to the first two floors of the building. The other four floors of the accommodation facility are also damaged.

The Cuban news agency ACN has published photos showing a severely damaged hotel and clouds of smoke rising to the sky. Photographs published in the daily Communist Party of Granma show pictures of the hotel walls, which were completely crushed by the explosion.

The ninety-six-room hotel is located in the historic center of Havana. It features a bar, restaurant, gym, spa and rooftop pool.
