A large fire broke out in the timber production facility in Saldus region at night

The fire broke out in the timber production facility of the woodworking company SIA “Zusa”, confirmed the chairman of the company’s board, Uģis Zanders. At the same time, Zander did not give a wider comment about the fire.

At 2:19 a.m. VUGD received a call to Zirņi parish, where a fire had broken out in a timber production facility. At the scene, it was found that the roof of the one-story hangar-type building is on fire in its entire area and the flames are spreading to the neighboring buildings. The fire extinguishing work was hampered by the fact that there was a lot of combustible material at the scene, which contributed to the spread of the flames.

This high-risk fire, which burned a production building of 450 square meters, an adjacent building of 300 square meters, a barn of 110 square meters, as well as a chip bunker and a pile of wood chips of 100 square meters, was located at 5.13.

Firefighters managed to save three adjacent buildings, as well as tractor equipment and the company’s finished products from the flames.

Work at the scene is currently ongoing.

The woodworking company “Zusa” was registered in 2007, and its share capital is 2,845 euros. In 2022, the turnover of the company was 3.121 million euros, and the profit was 501,868 euros, according to “Firmas.lv” information. The company’s 2023 financial results have not yet been made public. The sole owner of the company is Evita Zandere.
