A job fair for young people to find a job

the essential
The youth employment and training forum was held on Tuesday at the city’s youth center. It allows the young generation to find vocational training or seek seasonal employment.

On May 18, the new youth center hosted the youth employment and training forum. Around 200 interested parties attended the event. They benefited from the advice of professionals to help them find training or seasonal employment. For the president of the youth information office, Jean-David Bigué, “this action will allow those present to be more autonomous. We give them information, it is up to them to use it.”

Employers came to do interviews to recruit workers for the summer season, but also fixed-term or even permanent contracts. Like Florent, recruiter for the Cottave Bati company, specializing in construction. “This is the first year I’ve come. I’ve already received a CV for a seasonal job, but that’s not really what I’m looking for. My job has often been denigrated by the National Education. It’s a hard work but we want to show that with investment and a desire to undertake, we can succeed.”

Lucas, from Fuxé, had come to look for a job, his search was dispatched. “I went to see several employers for this summer, I submitted my CVs. We’ll see if I get positive responses…” He managed to finalize the precious document thanks to the CV and cover letter workshop, to available to the general public on site.

A first for training centers

For the first time, 14 schools or training centers with a support system were present. Pôle emploi, the Ligue de l’enseignement and various campuses came to present their commitments to people looking for training.

This is particularly the case of the Purple Campus of Saint-Paul-de-Jarrat, represented by two former students, Thomas and Julien. “We have already been approached during the morning and we are expecting more people in the afternoon. We present our training to them but we also want to show them the network of partners we have, which is an important help when it comes to enter the job market.”

For Jean-David Bouguié, “the future of the city is the young people. We must take into account their rights, support them so that they become independent. For some jobs, the qualifications are complex and we do not give enough means for our young people to obtain them.” This kind of forum is one of them.
