A happy new year 2019 for public transport in the Jura

A year 2019 described as “remarkable” for public transport in the Jura. The number of kilometers traveled by all users has increased by 5.3% compared to 2018, according to a press release published on Friday. In addition, more than a third of Jurassians, or 37%, had a public transport subscription last year. The figure shows an increase of 2% for a total of 27,378 units.

The increase in traffic observed last year in public transport in the Jura coincides with the introduction of the half-hour rate at all stations located between Delémont and Porrentruy. A train has served all intermediate locations every thirty minutes since December 2018, making it a real RER line. Attendance thus increased by 12% on the Delémont-Porrentruy-Delle route operated by SBB.

The quality of the services provided by the CFF, PostBus and the CJ also remains high. Most of the criteria evaluated present results above the established tolerance limits. For example, as many as 98% of SBB trains arrived on time in 2019. Improvements are however possible in terms of punctuality for PostBus. Ditto for the CJ about passenger information and the quality of the stay at stations and stops. It should also be noted that the share of costs financed by public authorities decreased by 1.4% to reach 51.1 million francs.

Finally, the declawed tickets introduced for a period of three months from December 2019 on the regional lines of the canton of Jura have been very successful. The offer concerns the SBB and PostBus networks. It was put on hold due to the coronavirus but was restored on June 8 and made permanent. / comm-fco
