It is the American specialized site The Hollywood Reporter which announced it this Friday June 26: Margot Robbie will be the heroine of the next film of the franchise Pirates of the Caribbean. This feature film would not be the previously announced reboot of the saga, nor a continuation of the five previous installments (The curse of the Black Pearl, The Secret of the cursed chest, Until the end of the world, The Fountain of Youth and The Revenge of Salazar). It would be an independent component at the narrative level.
This film would take place in the universe of the Pirates of the Caribbean saga, but without Johnny Depp in the whimsical outfit of Jack Sparrow. This feminine version of the franchise should be written by Christina Hodson, screenwriter that the Australian actress knows well since they worked together on Birds of Prey (and the fantastical story of Harley Quinn).
The announcement of this project immediately ignited Twitter.
