According to information gathered by Europa 1, a deputy mayor of the municipality of Choisy-le-Roi in Val-de-Marne found himself in police custody after refusing a police check and embarrassing officials who intervened in a city. “He even harangued the young rioters, telling them to film the scene,” said a source familiar with the matter.

The deputy mayor copiously hindered the work of the police. Commissioner Matthieu Valet – also spokesperson for the independent union of police commissioners, SICP – has not exaggerated. According to information from Europe 1, Moustapha Thiam, deputy mayor in charge of housing in the city of Choisy-le-Roi, was arrested and placed in police custody in a cell at the city police station Thursday evening to Friday for outrage, while the police intervened for the riots in the difficult city of Jacques-Cartier.

It all begins when a vehicle from the departmental BAC is commissioned, shortly after midnight, by the young people of this neighborhood. The police then resorted to tear gas to get out of this difficult situation. The explosion of one of them ends up in the car of a local young man, which ignites very quickly and spreads fire to nine other parked cars.

Offensive remarks and refusal to check

The firefighters intervened to control the fire and explained to the police that they feared the presence of nitrous oxide cylinders in the vehicle or at least of fuel accelerators. The owner, in default of insurance, then presents himself to the carabinieri. Just like an assistant to the mayor of the city who, apparently, lives in the neighborhood and who will soon worsen the situation, already degraded, according to the police version. The latter would then have made outrageous remarks and attacked the dignity of the commissioner sent on the spot to try to restore calm in the neighborhood. “He even harangued the young rioters, telling them to film the scene,” said a source familiar with the matter.

Another police source confirms that this individual “refused control and made outrageous remarks against the police authorities.” The chosen one ended up in handcuffs, taken directly to the police station, where he spent the night in a police cell. According to information from Europa 1, the elected official will be prosecuted by Créteil’s indictment in the form of a guilty plea procedure, which implies that the suspect acknowledges the facts. Contacted, the municipality of Choisy-le-Roi did not respond.
