A dead dolphin was found in Courtown and a pilot whale washed up in Fethard-on-Sea in Co Wexford. A rare shark was also found recently.

Two marine mammals, a dolphin and a pilot whale, have washed up dead on separate beaches in Co Wexford, Ireland. The dolphin was discovered by a beach walker in the town of Courtown. The pilot whale washed up in Fethard-on-Sea. The discoveries follow last week’s finding of a rare 14-foot smalltooth sand tiger shark on the same county’s coastline – the first confirmed encounter with the species in Irish waters according to Trinity College Dublin scientists. A group of Swiss tourists found the shark. The national police force, the Gardaí, are investigating the death of a teenager following a quad bike accident in the county.
