This was said by the Minister of Culture, Dr. Petar Stojanovic, in the program “This Sunday” on bTV.
An interdepartmental working group between the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor’s Office has already been formed, the minister explained. And specified that her job is to explore the possibilities and create a unit protecting our cultural heritage. “There is a similar analogue in Italy, which we like very much. It was implemented by the carabinieri, who are subordinate to the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Internal Affairs,” he also said, quoted by the press center of the Council of Ministers.
At the moment, there is an effective instruction on interaction between the departments, and the General Directorate “Inspector for the Protection of Cultural Heritage” is dealing with this, explained the minister.
“In the Ministry of Culture, it is possible to have greater visibility, transparency and visibility of our actions. The return of the Damascene from the 19th century and the necklace of Roman gold dating from the 3rd century are proof that our efforts are bearing fruit,” Petar Stojanović pointed out.
“I never imagined that the Minister of Culture deals with so little culture. There were so many “poisoned minutes” in the ministry that I’m still trying to catch my breath. So far, for 10 months, I’ve been dealing with “pure culture” -less than a month. Everything else is a settlement of petty cash and interpersonal disputes”. This was Stojanovic’s comment on the situation he found in the ministry entrusted to him.
