CHENNAI: Police broke into a house in Thiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu, and arrested six people following complaints from the local population that witchcraft and human sacrifice were taking place. The police arrested five family members who had closed their home and performed the puja for two days and the sorcerer. They were not ready to open the front door as they threatened to sacrifice themselves if the puja was interrupted. Then the officials of the Revenue Agency and the police entered the house breaking down the door with an earth-moving machine.

The incident took place in Arani, in the Thiruvannamalai district. Puja took place in a house here for two days. On the second night, he heard screams and other sounds from inside the house. With this, the locals informed the police of the pooja. On the morning of the third day, the tasildar and the police arrived and knocked, but no one opened the door. Pujas and screams continued from inside the house.

People in the house threatened to kill him by slitting his throat if he interfered with the puja. There is said to be human sacrifice after the third day of pooja and it will only come out if fruitful. Later, with the help of the locals, the police team brought an earthmoving car, broke down the door and entered the house. Family members were bleeding from their wounds. The dolls were lined up across the room.

Then the police arrested six people. They were forcibly arrested. Prakash, the sorcerer, attacked and bit the police officers while he was trying to arrest them. Police are investigating why Pooja was locked up in her home for three days.
