A Coruña: Labaca denounces on the street the lack of support for specific needs | Radio Coruña

The educational community of Labaca public school has taken to the streets for claim support teachers that guarantee a quality public education under the motto “Sen apoio, sen future”.

They have done so through a symbolic act: blowing soap bubbles in front of the main door of the center.

They denounce that the Xunta has not filled the position of teacher of Hearing and Language for this course and neither has one of the two educational assistants that the center had. The concentration has been supported by the entire educational community and the school management because “it is a problem that affects everyone.”

The deficit of support professionals represents a setback for students with specific needs. The blowing exercise is a tool that is used to support Hearing and Language. In Labaca 19 students are affected, but there are undiagnosed children. The lack of professionals is a problem in seven other centers in the city such as Emilia Pardo Bazán, Alborada, Eusebio da Guarda, Salgado Torres, Rosalía de Castro, San Pedro de Visma and the CEIP of Practices. Valle Inclán, Isidro Parga Pondal and Juana de Vega, in Oleiros, CEIP Tabeaio, in Carral, and Wenceslao Fernández Flórez, in Cambre, are supporting the metropolitan area. They do not rule out a joint mobilization.

The call has been supported by the PSOE, the Atlantic Tide and the BNG group from the Concello de A Coruña, with the presence of the mayor Inés Rey.

The socialist has promised to hold a meeting with the Minister of Education, Carmen Pomar, and has said that the PSOE will present an initiative and several questions on the subject in the Galician Parliament.

In the concentration also the councilor of the Tide, Xiao Varela and the Block’s spokesperson, Francisco Jorquera, in addition to the councilors of Education and Social Welfare of the City of A Coruña.
