From Monday the health personnel of the health centers will be in charge of collecting the samples who will participate in the study on the prevalence of the coronavirus to determine the level of immunization of society and to be able to refine future measures to face the health crisis.

Who will perform the tests?

Family doctors will be in charge of carrying out the tests and health centers will have to reassign functions and in many cases will extend their hours.

The family doctor Pablo Vaamonde considers that there is a lot of affected population that has served as a vehicle for the virus and practically has no symptoms. The sample will allow us to calculate how many they are and to know the global immunity to regulate de-escalation while waiting for the vaccine. So far the tests have only been carried out on very affected people. In his opinion, there are many shadow areas in the incidence of the virus.

“There are people who go through it asymptomatically or irrelevantly and others who are caused by a very severe multiorgan involvement. In addition, patients at risk do not correspond exactly to those we were used to in other diseases, because there are healthy people without previous pathologies who have also been severely affected, “Vaamonde warns.

Denounce that in recent years public health and epidemiological surveillance were abandoned with a minimal investment. It considers that the public authorities should strengthen these fields of knowledge and combat the overcrowding of the elderly in residences.

What health centers will make them?

The health center of Los Rosales or Labañou in the city of A Coruña, also in Santa Cruz, are among those chosen by the Xunta de Galicia to carry out the tests.

How do you know if you have to go?

The summons to the evidence It will be made by telephone contact with each of the selected persons. The sample collection will consist of a digital puncture that will indicate whether that person had contact with the COVID-19 coronavirus or not. Some have already received the call.

The tests are voluntary and the results of the tests will be communicated on the same day of its realization, by means of a new telephone call.
