A Coruña: Aspanaes holds an international congress on autism in Palexco | Radio Coruña | Today for Today A Coruña

Today and tomorrow Palexco will host the Second Aspanaes International Congress, with the motto “promoting the strengths of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder”. The entity celebrates its 40 years favoring social awareness and inclusion.

The objective of the meeting is to increase awareness about this disorder and break down social barriers. One of the priorities is to combat hoaxes on the Internet.

Some 400 people and speakers of different nationalities will attend, such as Ángel Carracedo, Emma Cuesta or Phil Reed. The president of the Xunta, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, spoke at the inauguration, stating that the Xunta will continue working, among other issues, on the need to expand public places for people with autism.

Aspanaes currently serves 570 people and has almost 200 professionals.

Also present at the opening ceremony were the president of the association, María José Álvarez Folgar, the mayor of A Coruña, Xulio Ferreiro, and the president of the Provincial Council, Valentín González Formoso.
