A Coruña approves the agreement with Xunta and ADIF for the intermodal station | Radio Coruña

The Local Government Board has approved the framework agreement between administrations to start, finally, the works of the intermodal stationl. The agreement has already been signed by the Council of A Coruña and the Xunta. ADIF signature is missing, in charge of the railway part. The councilor for Urbanism, Juan Diaz Villoslada, trust that it occurs before the year ends to start the works in this 2020.

The agreement states that the Council will build the intermodal access and a car park for vehicles at the bus station, also a runway which initially will be for pedestrians and cyclists but does not rule out that it is intended for car traffic. However, the local government has already started the procedures to approve the construction of the new accesses through the Railroad avenue. The road of the Sardine It is now waiting for the necessary modifications to the PGOM.

The Council’s investment amounts to 14 million euros of the 80 total that supposes the project of the expected infrastructure. The Consellería de Infraestructuras will be in charge of building the new bus station, integrated into the railway terminal, with an investment of more than 17 million euros.

Metropolitan transportation

The Governing Board has also approved a collaboration agreement between the Xunta, the City Council and several municipalities in the area for the joint development of metropolitan transport and give continuity to the urban bus lines that cross the city limits and provide service to Arteixo and Oleiros. The local government requests an agreement from the Xunta to set up a single transportation authority in the metropolitan area so that the exchange of information and services is more fluid.
