A congenital malformation of the brain… Her father in “An-Nahar”: she screams: “Oh, dad, relieve me of this pain”

6 years after her birth, Ghina Khader started complaining of pain in her head, she cried and screamed in pain, which was beyond her body’s ability to bear. She was young and her pain was great, and from there she began the journey of torment to discover the truth about what was happening. Her father never left a doctor in Beirut who didn’t consult him: from one hospital to another and from one clinic to another, Ghina moved with her parents in search of a medical solution that would ease her pain.

The medical diagnosis came as a shock, as he suffers from a congenital brain malformation, a bitter truth that was not easy for anyone to accept. Days went by and Ghina continued to face this pain with her parents, silently and patiently, but she couldn’t take it anymore.

In an interview with An-Nahar, her father, Ahmed, confirms that “after consulting a large number of doctors and after continuous visits to hospitals in Beirut, I finally met a doctor specialized in my daughter’s condition, and he asked me to perform two MRI scans to detect the condition of the brain and research the possibility of its treatment, which will have a long course.” Exactly, according to what the doctor told me.

At home, Ghina weeps at the severity of her pain and reportedly sends her father “audio recordings that tell him, ‘Oh, Dad, I’ll come to you to find a solution to this pain and comfort me.’ She feels like if a child was about to pop out of his head due to the pressure he feels. He had suffered enough all those years, that he would hit his head on the ground to get relief from this pain, while people would say he was “possessed by Satan” or “abnormal”.

But my daughter is normal and continued to struggle despite her torment to complete her studies. She is studying “hotel” today but pain prevents her from leaving the house today.

All Ahmed is asking is for the white hands to help him secure the sum of 15 million Lebanese pounds, or the equivalent of $368, so that he can rush his daughter to the hospital for the requested photos. He knows that his daughter’s treatment is long and expensive, but he wants to take the first step on this journey.

The 18-year-old has endured a lot and her road is still long, yet all she hopes is that this pain will end, that it will disappear as it appeared and that her life will continue as much as possible, “because nothing is impossible.”
