Cats also have the right to quality food. This is the basic philosophy of Sally & Cie, arrived in November 2020 on the feline food market with innovative products, made from 95% dehydrated raw meat.
It is because he wanted to feed his cat Sally and his two other cats differently that the Brestois Yvon Puill co-founded this company with his wife. Tired of the constraints of home-made, the couple launched their production of small high protein dishes : “it is exclusively real freeze-dried butcher’s meat to which we add quality vegetables, organic carrots, Plougastel strawberries, in very small quantities so that we find somehow the food bowl of a mouse or of a bird “, explains this former captain in the navy, reconverted as an urban transport consultant.
Short circuit, and even organic
The raw material comes mainly from a butcher’s shop in Lannilis, north of Brest. A blender and a freeze-dryer are enough to make these star-studded menus for four-legged gourmets. Sally & Cie offers about ten products: turkey fillet or chicken thigh (100 or 250 g), rabbit, a low calorie sachet, a special kittens, an organic dish, two fish treats (30 g), and even whole quail for holidays. Something to lick their chops and purr with pleasure.
“1 euro per day”
Quality of course comes at a price. “It’s more expensive than supermarket croquettes obviously, assume Yvon Puill. The budget is roughly 1 euro per day, so 30 euros for the month. “ Depending on the size of the animal and its appetite, the addition may however be more vigorous.
The young shoot must now make itself known nationally to increase sales today confidential (around a thousand euros in monthly turnover). It is not a niche market, assures the co-founder: “We thought at the very beginning that it was aimed at ailments, and we realized that in fact not at all! It’s you and me, all the people who just want to feed their animals properly.”
