A company from its supply chain has offered 20,000 euros directly to the pay driver, as reported by several media. It is money that the company should have paid to the forwarding agent after the goods had been transported. There is hope that other customers of the forwarder will follow suit.
The strike by the truck drivers, most of whom come from Central Asia, has now been going on for around six weeks. More than 100 employees of a Polish forwarding company have parked their vehicles at the southern Hessian motorway service station and are refusing to continue driving in order to claim wage payments that have been outstanding for months. The public prosecutor’s office in Darmstadt is investigating.
