Kalpatta: Two persons in the case of abducting a youth from the Kalpatta bus stand and extorting money have been arrested by the police. The Kalpatta police arrested Nidin (33) and Devdas (46) of Koothuparam Erivati Seema Nivas, natives of Kannur. The two were arrested in a case of kidnapping Abu Bakar, a native of Koduvalli, and robbing him of Rs. 4 lakhs.
The incident took place on January 28 at 12 noon. The complaint is that Abu Bakar got off at Kalpatta old bus stand by KSRTC bus from Koduvalli and was abducted by a group of people who came to the car and took Rs 3.92 lakh and dropped him at Vengapally.
During the journey, the car used by the kidnapped gang collided with a KSRTC bus and a crane near Mananthavadi High School. The occupants of the car fled after the accident. The same KSRTC bus in which Abu Bakar was traveling from Koduvalli to Kalpatta was also hit by the car of the fraud gang.

A special squad headed by ASP Taposh Basumatri is investigating the case. Kalpatta Police Inspector PL. Shaiju and SI Biju Antony arrested the accused from Kannur. The police said that there are more people in the gang and the search for them has been intensified.
